Paris Saint-Germain unveiled the signing of Manchester United midfielder Angel Di Maria at an official press conference Thursday after the two sides agreed to a £44.3million transfer fee on a four-year contract that sees the Argentine leave less than a year after breaking the British transfer record of £44.3million.
"I am very proud, and can't wait, to wear the colours of Paris Saint-Germain," Di Maria said at the press conference. "I want to win every competition we enter, both in France and Europe.
"I want to win the Champions League, which is a dream for all footballers, for a second time. We will do everything we can to bring Europe's biggest trophy to France and the fans of Paris Saint-Germain."
Despite logging three goals and 12 assists in 27 Premier League appearances, the 27-year-old struggled to adapt to life in Manchester, making only one start in the final 10 matches of the season.
Di Maria made his intentions fully known when he did not report to the club's preseason tour of the United States, leading manager Louis van Gaal to fine him two weeks' wages (£360,000).
"We are very proud that Angel Di Maria has chosen Paris Saint-Germain," PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi said. "He is an incredibly talented player, with a frightening speed and ability to beat opposition players.
"He adds his name to the club's strong South American community and, above all, the big Paris Saint-Germain family. By signing Angel Di Maria, Paris Saint-Germain is once again showing the club's constant ambition to reach the summits of the European game."
