Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero has suffered a hamstring tear and could miss the next two months as he recovers.
"The studies we did today show that Sergio Aguero has a grade-two muscle tear," the Argentine Football Association confirmed in a statement.
The injury has likely ruled the 27-year-old out of the Manchester derby at the end of the month as well as the next two Champions League matches.
Aguero was stretchered off in the 20th minute of Argentina's World Cup qualifier against Ecuador on Thursday night with the injury, which is reportedly unrelated to the sore hamstring that saw him leave the Newcastle match early after scoring five goals.
